Liverpool have been told to double their bid for 22 year old winger Polish winger Jakub Blaszczykowski in order to secure a signing, raising it from £4 million to £8 million.  Borussia Dortmund are keen to quadruple what they paid for the winger they signed from Wisła Kraków in early 2007 for around £2m.

Having had to withdraw from his nation’s Euro 2008 side due to injury, Blaszczykowski has remained relatively unknown outside of the BundesLiga. However, Benitez is said to have a high opinion of Jakub Blaszczykowski, who wears ‘Kuba’ on his Borussia Dortmund shirt, and is keen for a January signing.
