David Beckham’s move to AC Milan on loan is causing problems for LA Galaxy, who have had to cancel a friendly match in Australia as a result.

The 33 year old England star had been selected to play in the LA Galaxy v Queensland Roar but Beckham decided not to risk injury ahead of his move to Italy.

An official statement from the club reads:

“To avoid disappointment for the many fans that were expected to travel to Brisbane from all parts of Australia for this event, it was decided to postpone this game before tickets went on sale.

“Fans with tickets as a result of a priority pre-purchase this week will receive a full refund.

“We are very hopeful that we will be able to re-schedule the game in Brisbane in the near future and will make this a priority for our organisation.”

Tom Payne, LA Galaxy’s business operations president said:

“We were not in a position to absolutely guarantee David Beckham’s availability,”

“To avoid disappointment for the fans it was decided to postpone this game.”
