Arsenal and Liverpool are set to battle it out for a La Liga defender.

The player in question is Valencia’s Raul Albiol, who has been attracting a host of interest from clubs around Europe following some fine performances for Los Che.

AS claim Arsene Wenger and Rafael Benitez will enter any bidding for the 23-year-old, who still has three years remaining on his contract at the Mestalla.

Albiol, who has nine caps for Euro 2008 Kings Spain, is usually used as a central defender, but he is also comfortable at playing the holding role in the heart of the midfield.
