Patrice Evra has stated that this Sunday’s match between local rivals Manchester United and Manchester City is an important one. Despite United’s overall success, the last two times the teams have met they have been beaten by City.
Speaking to SkyNews, Evra said:
“Sunday should be a massive game for both sides,”
“It’s a very important game for us and for the fans as well, and for the people working for this club.
“We need to show to Man City they aren’t better than us. Last year you lose six points, but you win the league.
“But for the fans it’s a good present if you win against City.”
Although United have drawn 0-0 in the last two away games, United midfielder Michael Carrick believes the match is a turning point:
“I’m sure we will start scoring pretty quickly again. We’ve had spells since I’ve been here where we’ve had two or three games like we’ve had.
“It’s easy to think, ‘what’s gone wrong?’, but it’s not a case of that.
“We believe what we’re doing is the right way and I’m sure we’ll become better than ever as the season progresses.”
