2008 Asian Player of the Year asks for training move to Chelsea, and speaks of national pride.

The 26 year old Asian player of the year 2008, Server Djeparov, has reportedly asked his club, FC Bunyodkor, for leave to spend one month at the Chelsea training ground after he impressed Chelsea officials during his performances in the Asian Champions League:

“I am flattered at getting the chance to train with some of the best players in England,”

“I will have to chalk out a plan and talk to the club about releasing me next season.”

The Uzbekistan national also spoke of his pride at the changes in football within Uzbekistan:

‘It is so surprising to receive this trophy.

‘Uzbekistan has seen positive changes in the development of football in recent years. The government has done its best to help football.

‘Winning this trophy will have a positive affect on the future of Uzbeki football and its image in Asia and the world.
