Sir Alex Ferguson is confident of a title win for Manchester United despite being in third position in the league table, and six points away from title leaders Liverpool.
Speaking to The Sun, Ferguson commented:
“You look at the first half of the season and we’ll have played away to almost every team who finished in the top 10 last season.
“That’s incredible. I have to say having home advantage against those teams at the end of the season should help us.”
“This season if we can get to the New Year and be within two or three points of the top we would have a great chance.
“Traditionally we are always better second half of the season.”
Elsewhere, however, Ferguson seems less confident about United’s chances and regardless of the claims by some critics that Liverpool’s second half of the season is traditionally weaker, according to Ferguson we are going to see a particulary exciting season finish:
“In the past, it’s always come down to two teams, but I don’t think that’ll be the case this season – I expect the ‘big four’ to take it right to the wire,”
