Liverpool defender Daniel Agger looks set to move to AC Milan after problems have arisen in contract talks. The representatives of the 23 year old had demanded that his wages be doubled to more than £70,000 per week but the club looks unlikely to meet this demand and, despite Benitez’s hope of securing a long term contract for Agger, the wage demands appear to be a dealbreaker for the club. Real Madrid have previously expressed an interested in the defender.
It seems unclear, however, whether this is something the staff are unwilling to accept on principle or whether they have made the calculation that it will cost less to get an equally experienced defender to take over the role. Either way, it could be risky to the title chances if they end up losing Agger.
