Chelsea winger Joe Cole reportedly wants to hold talks with manager Luiz Felipe Scolari after being taken off shortly before the final whistle in Saturday’s FA Cup against Southend at Stamford Bridge.
The FA Cup third-round match at Stamford Bridge was the 13th consecutive game in a row that Cole has been substituted and the England international appeared to refuse to shake his manager’s hand as he left the field on Saturday.
Frustrated Cole’s mood will not have been helped by the fact that after Southend had equalised, Chelsea’s best chance to clinch a win was missed by his replacement, Franco Di Santo.
A source close to the 27-year-old told the Express: “Joe was not happy. He wants a chat with the manager to see where he stands.”
The news will come as yet another blow to Scolari who, despite claiming that his players “love him” last week, has seen Wayne Bridge join Manchester City and been told that defender Alex wants to leave.
